F-ISH are proud to announce a unique exhibition of photographic images by Ben Gibson to be displayed for the first time at F-ISH Gallery. An exhibition curated by Simon Hedges and made possible through the sponsorship of Digital Media Print Hastings (www.digitalmediaprint.co.uk).
"Taking as its title, words drawn from William Blake's poem 'The Tyger', the exhibit uses the photographic series to re-interpret William Blake's ambivalent vision of epic grandeur and impenetrable mystery - a domain now portrayed in terms of endless repetition, chaos and evolutionary change.
Gibson is influenced by the motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge, the music of Philip Glass and ideas borrowed from Big Bang Cosmology. His photographs illustrate an enigmatic world of chaos and equilibrium, of beauty and eternal recurrence.
Each image in Gibson's progressively altering series initially seems similar and then becomes dissimilar, first appearing familiar and then strange, as the visual elements in each frame morph from one shape to the next. These are hypnotic photographic sequences that reveal a strange disparity between perception and interpretation
